[dropcap]D[/dropcap]jimon Hounsou is an actor, model and a nominee for two Academy Awards. He was born in Benin, West Africa then moved to Paris with his brother, where he worked as a model. Afterwards, he emerged in the entertainment industry by first appearing in music videos and then moved on to working on television shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Alias. He also starred in movies, his first movie debut was in Without You I’m nothing and then his career took off when he got a role in Steven Spielberg’s movie entitled Amistad.
When Djimon Hounsou fist arrived in France at the age of thirteen, he dropped out of school and became homeless for some time. He strolled through the streets of Paris at night just to look for something to eat from the garbage. But then, he met a photographer by chance and that led to him being introduced to a fashion designer and he became a model in Paris. Often life can feel more like a gambling game, where it’s a game of risks and chances. Djimon Hounsou certainly did not expect to be homeless in Paris when he decided to immigrate to France to seek for a better life. However, a chance meeting with a photographer completely turned his whole life around. He gained fame from being a model and now he’s a well-known movie star. Sometimes in life, we need to be adventurous and take chances. It can turn out well or maybe the contrary, but at least we can learn more from taking more chances.
Don’t be afraid to take risks when you strive for your goals. If it turns out to be a total failure, then learn from that mistake and never be afraid to laugh at yourself. When an opportunity comes your way, just do it, it may just change your life completely. After all, life is to be experienced and not just to be watched.
